Westwood Drama Club to Present Recess!

What do you get when you mix a young substitute teacher and a flighty principal with a classroom full of the funniest students found anywhere?  You get Recess!  This hilarious, wise-cracking musical written by Keith Jackson will be presented for the community by the Westwood Drama Club on Sunday, November 3rd, at 3:00 pm in the school auditorium.

Miss Quackenbush, played by Sydney Lamberth, takes over a class at the Little Red Schoolhouse.  She soon discovers why the previous teacher had a nervous breakdown.  With Principal Crabapple, who is played by Matthew Tucker, by her side, our substitute is exposure to bad poetry, mice in a lunch box and a student with the measles.  This hilarity is enough to keep the audience entertained throughout the show.

Senior cast members Merritt Daniels, Ridge Collins, Ashley Bush, and Madison Tucker are a few of the crazy students at the Little Red Schoolhouse.  Snappy tunes such as ’Recess’ and ’We’re A Dunce’ feature the vocals of Kathryn Santos, Patrick Vereen, Dru Ford, Darrah Butler, and Mac Collins.

The hilarity of Cole Smith, Mary Kate Dallas, Jason Pham, and Akshay Patel helps to put this production at the head of its class.  Campbell Waters, Levie Walsh, MarLeigh Good, and Ashley Carden comprise the remainder of the class members in the cast of Recess.

Technical support for the production is provided by West Rogers, Brandon Pham, and Brandon Butler.  Stage crew members include Collier Baggett, Chason Worsham, John Mark Hendricks, Thomas Briggs, Vince Bostick, Reid Ford, Jae Park, and Austin Bentley.  Costumes and make up are under the supervision of Elizabeth Glass, Peyton Hatcher, Lexie Davis and Gracie Bullard.  The production is directed by Azalee Vereen.

Recess! is sure to provide an entertaining afternoon for audiences of all ages.  The Drama Club invites you to come out and enjoy foot-tapping, sing a long songs written by Gerald Castle and Michael Vigilant, mixed with the hilarity of a schoolroom with a substitute teacher.
