Middle School

Westwood Middle School

Grades 6-8

A Team of Professionals

The middle school is taught by a team of sixth, seventh and eighth grade teachers. They have a unique understanding of the needs of this age group and how to challenge and encourage their best growth.

A Step Up Academically

Students step up from elementary school into a more demanding curriculum with more critical thinking and independent study. The reading curriculum continues with emphasis on comprehension, critical thinking, and reader response. The study of English builds with emphasis on writing, editing, and understanding language. The math goes beyond the four basic operations. Social studies and science become more project based and more relevant.

Hands On Learning

At Westwood, we work to make learning meaningful through hands-on learning experiences.

Physical Education

Middle school students have PE every day.

Enrichment

Each week middle school students have Spanish.

All middle school students have the opportunity to visit Washington DC.

Eighth grade students are taught keyboarding.

Extra Curricular

Middle School students can participate in basketball, baseball, cheerleading, cross country, shotgun, softball, tennis, football and track.

What Our Parents Are Saying

Don’t just take it from us, let our customers do the talking!

Westwood is more than just a school, it is a family. The school's size, together with its values, standards, and excellent academics are the reasons we choose Westwood for our girls.  Westwood focuses on developing a well-rounded student. Not only is a quality education important, but involvement in extra-curricular and the community is emphasized as well.

Amanda Heard

Westwood offers our children a safe, loving, and encouraging learning environment where our kids are challenged academically. We are proud to be a part of a family-oriented school where values are a priority.
