Mission, Vision, and History

Mission Statement

Westwood School is an independent Christian based community school providing a college
preparatory curriculum for grades K3-12.

Our purpose is to offer a quality education in a safe environment for the whole child based on
the philosophy that every child can learn.

A Westwood education is a unique opportunity for academic, physical, spiritual, and social development
through the cooperative efforts of students, faculty, and families.

Admissions

Westwood’s admission policy includes a process of testing to ensure every child is ready for success.

Academics

Westwood is a college preparatory school. Our goal is to prepare every student for success in college and life.

Faculty and Staff

Westwood is staffed with exceptional educators. Many of our educators are graduates of Westwood. Our faculty and staff are committed to the success of every child.

Athletics

Westwood has a competitive history of success in sports competitions. We offer a wide variety of sports and encourage students to participate.

Enrichment

Foreign language and technology are part of the enrichment program at Westwood. We believe in educating the whole child and work to give students a wide variety of experiences.

Learning Lab

The Westwood Learning Lab is a nationally recognized program that helps Westwood children succeed. From remediation to enrichment, we work hard to challenge every child at his/her level of ability.

Extracurricular

Extracurricular clubs like 4-H, Student Government, Art Club, National Honor Society, Y-Club, and The Recycle Club give high school and junior high students a variety of leadership opportunities.

Technology

High school students learn how to use applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as coding and much more. Middle school students learn how to type at an age-appropriate level. Elementary students learn basic  techniques through the Ipad Lab.

Parent Communication

Keeping parents informed is an important part of the parent-teacher partnership at Westwood. Tools such as Powerschool and Bloomz help parents stay abreast of their child’s academic performance. Powerschool and Bloomz can be accessed via email, website, or smartphone app.

New students must take an entrance examination required by the school and have records and transcripts reviewed by Westwood’s admission’s committee to determine acceptance. E-mail Paige Johnson for more information or to set up an interview.
