Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
The Position:
Westwood Schools seeks a full-time, dynamic and versatile Pre-Kindergarten teacher beginning in August 2023. Essential characteristics include love of children, energy, optimism, flexibility and the ability to work with others. We are looking for someone who is excited to become a part of our school and who enjoys and understands the young learner. The ideal candidate will convey a love of learning and foster a nurturing, structured classroom environment. While not required, coaching and/or club sponsorship experience is always valuable in an independent school community.

Middle School/High School Science Teacher
Westwood Schools is seeking a Middle School/High School Science teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. This position may include coaching duties. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to Keith Croft at [email protected] by July 1st, 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Establish clear expectations for classroom rules, routines, and procedures and enforce them consistently and appropriately
- Promote a warm, inviting and supportive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning
- Maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom
- Demonstrate an accurate, deep, and current knowledge of subject matter
- Plan for instruction to meet the needs of all students while engaging students and maintaining high levels of interest
- Build upon students’ existing knowledge and skills
- Effectively use appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Communicate and present material clearly, and check for understanding
- Develop higher-order thinking through questioning and problem-solving activities
- Differentiate instruction to meet individual developmental needs
- Provide remediation, enrichment, and acceleration to enhance student comprehension
- Provide constructive and frequent feedback to students on their progress toward their learning goals
- Respond to disruptions in a timely, appropriate manner
- Provide transitions that minimize loss of instructional time
- Provide academic rigor, encourage critical and creative thinking and motivate students to achieve goals
- Maintain a professional demeanor and behavior (e.g., appearance, punctuality and attendance)
- Communicate effectively with students, parents or guardians, school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning
- Engage in activities outside the classroom intended for school and student enhancement
- Accept constructive criticism and advice for improving performance
- Adhere to the established chain of command
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the headmaster
