Westwood hosted two region opponents on Thursday, March 13.  Facing the Valwood Valiants, the Wildcat boys finished 4-1 with the only loss at #1 Singles with a hard fought, close match with Grayson Thomas outlasting Matthew Tucker (6-4,5-7,10-4).  Big wins came from John Kimball (6-4,7-5) and Cameron Godwin (6-2,6-0) at #2 and #3 singles, respectively. Kimball, an 8th grader, remains undefeated at #2 singles for the season. The #1 Doubles partners also dominated the court with Will High and Brock Allen soundly defeating their opponents 6-1,6,1.  Valwood forfeited at #2 doubles.
The Lady Wildcats dropped a pair of tough losses at #1 and #3 Singles. Coming straight from back-to-back State Basketball Championship, #1 Perra Harrell lost to Maggie Scruggs (0-6,6-7, 4-7).  #3 Bella Underwood was defeated 0-6,0-6.  McKenlee Coleman, another of the Wildcats impressive 8th graders, remains undefeated for the season with a win at #2 singles.  #1 Doubles duo of Callie Smith and Rachel Harrell won over Grace Flemur and Hope Hathcock, 6-0, 6-0.  Ashley Bush and Mary Parker Westbook came up short against the Valiant’s #2 Doubles pair 3-6, 3-6.  The Lady Cats ended up with 2 wins/3 losses overall against Valwood.
Westwood teams won 6 of the 7 matches against Sherwood.  #1 Singles Perra Harrell, #2 Singles Becca Bostick, and #3 Singles Emory Bostick each won their matches 8-0.  #1 Doubles Mattie Rogers/Morgan Godwin continued their winning streak with an 8-1 win.  #2 Doubles partners and cousins Emory Bostick/Becca Bostick won 6-0.  
For the boys, Brent Johnson played #1 Singles against Reed Reynolds losing 4-6, 1-6.  #1 Doubles partners, Mac Collins and West Rogers, gained another win for Westwood at 6-2, 6-0.
Westwood’s next match will be Saturday, March 22 at Darton College against Deerfield, Brookwood and Southland Academy.
