We appreciate your support of this event! 2004 Grandparents Day was a big Success! With almost 200 in attendance, the Westwood 2004 Grandparents Day was one of the best ever. [See photos] The Theme was "Angels Among Us." The auditorium was decorated with pictures of grandparents and their grandchildren along with an angel motif. Beginning before school, Grandparents toured the school and spent time watching their grandchildren do their classwork. At 8:45, grandparents were treated to an assembly brought together by the Westwood Music Department (Gloria Rigsby, chair) and the Elementary Faculty. Layla Baker, Junior, began her tribute with her rendition of Rosemary's Grandaughter. The elementary sang "What the World Needs Now" and each group sang songs. The third through fifth grades completed with their version of "Angels Among Us" directed by Danny Thomas. Sumner Watson concluded the entertainment with her signing of "I can only imagine." David Stargel encouraged all Grandparents to use the grocery coupon program. Mr. Luther thanked the Grandparents for their great contribution to the school. Join the Grandparent's Club! The Grandparents Club meets the first Monday of each month at 7 pm in the high school library. At the meeting on September 8th, the NHS will be handing out seat cushions and expressing appreciation to the grandparents for all of the great things they have done for the school, not only this summer but over the history of the school. Grandparents Auction Is Best Ever!By Mel Jones, President- Grandparents Club Our 2003 Grandparents Auction was a resounding success! All of those who attended seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. The afternoon began at 4:30 with our silent auction. There was a large variety of items from which to choose. A favorite table throughout the afternoon was the cake and dessert table. A big thank you to all of our families and friends that donated items to the silent auction. Westwood
Schools' PTO provided a wonderful spaghetti supper. Everyone enjoyed the
meal, dessert, and fellowship time. Thanks to the PTO members who stood
and served so many. Hats off to Kent and Jennifer Grogan. Wonderful job! The live auction began with a pizza dinner and a movie for two students donated by Mr. Luther. Everything seemed to fall into place after that, resuting in the best auction ever. We were able to raise more money in this year's auction than in any previous auction. Our thanks
and appreciation to all the grandparents, workers, and individuals who
donated to our auction. Now that the 2003 auction is over, plans are being
made for our 2004 auction. We invite you now to come and join us as we
work together for the school. ![]() |
